A. O. Richards

Mr. Augustus Owen Richards, 90, of Dawson Springs, KY, died at 5:00 A.M. Monday, May 10, 2004, at his home. \ Born November 24, 1913 in Caldwell Co., KY, he was the son of the late William Joe Richards and Dixie Logan Richards. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie McMican and Dixie Richards and two brothers, Logan Richards and Paul Richards. \ Mr. Richards was a member of Dalton Baptist Church where he was a deacon and taught Mens Sunday School for over 20 years. He taught school for 41 1/2 years having begun at Elam School at age 18. He served as principal of Dalton School and West Hopkins High School until he retired in 1979. He was also a farmer and leader in the Dalton Community. \ Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Nellie Green Frazer Richards; three daughters, Linda Martin of Dalton, KY, Gayle Davis of Princeton, KY and Cindy Wright of Dalton; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow in Dalton Cemetery. \ Pallbearers will be Robyn Sanchez, Cheree Ball, Irvin Wright, Leah Wright, Kelly Davis and Jayme Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Frazer, John Richards, Alex Peyton, George Dever, Larry Durham and Deacons of Dalton Baptist Church. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. \ Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Dalton Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \ \
