Cardis Hewlett Clayton Obituary (1923 - 2010)

Mr. Cardis Hewlett Clayton, 86, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 9:55 P.M., Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ He was born June 13, 1923, in Manitou, KY to the late Benjamin and Dottie Vera Siria Clayton. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ava Nell Clayton in 2005. \ Mr. Clayton was a member and Deacon at Second Baptist Church in Madisonville for 45 years. He was also an avid fisherman and member of the Woodmen of the World Presidents Club. \ He is survived by two daughters, Bonita (Larry) Offutt and Teresa (Danny) Roberts all of Madisonville; two grandchildren, Stephen Offutt of Madisonville and Kevin (Clara) Offutt of Nortonville, KY; three great grandchildren, Josiah Offutt, Casey Boyd and Daisey Boyd all of Nortonville. \ Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor J.D. Holt and Bro. Roy Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday and 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Stephen Pugh, Stephen Offutt, Kevin Offutt, Billy Tapp, Carroll Elkins and Dudley Phelps. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Second Baptist Church. \ Memorial contributions may take the form of donation to the Second Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
