Carlis Oakley Obituary (1948 - 2024)

Carlis Oakley, 75, of Hanson passed away peacefully at home on June 5th, 2024. He was born on October 2, 1948 in Madisonville, KY to the late Marshall Oakley and Christine Glaysbrook Oakley. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jeff Oakley. Carlis was a member of Morton's Gap Christian Church and was the owner of the Hanson Market. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator for Andelex, and was a city commissioner for the city of Hanson. In his spare time he enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats play basketball, collecting model ships, going to antique and flea markets, relaxing on a good beach, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family. It will always be said of Carlis that he was truly a good man. His life radiated generosity, integrity, patience, work ethic and kindness. Carlis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shannon Oakley of Hanson; two daughters, Tandy (Scott) Burr of Indianapolis, and Heather (Banks) Ray of Hanson; and a step daughter, Monica (Matt) Brase of Indianapolis, IN; four sons, Jason (Lisa) Oakley of Noblesville, IN, Jack Whitfield of Madisonville, Jerrad (Lisa) Oakley of Anderson, IN, and Marshall (Shannon) Oakley of Eddyville, KY; twenty grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday June 8, 2024 at Morton's Gap Christian Church with Pastor D.J. Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Hanson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the service time Saturday at the church.
