Charles \C.R.\"" Gates Rice Obituary (1926 - 2009)

Mr. Charles Gates Rice, 83, of Henderson, KY and formerly of Madisonville, KY passed away at 8:25 A.M., Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at his residence. \ He was born March 11, 1926 in Muhlenberg County, KY to the late Luther L. and Amenthia Lee Rice. He was also preceded in death by his daughters mother, Genevia Raymer Rice in 1962; five brothers, William Henry Rice, Herbert L. Rice, Zelmer S. Rice, Robert W. Rice, Paul E. Rice, and one sister, Mary M. Patterson. \ Mr. Rice was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Madisonville. He was the owner of Rice Supply Company, Inc., as well as many other businesses in Hopkins and Henderson Counties. \ He is survived by his wife Sue Rice of Henderson, one daughter Phyllis and her husband, Steve Kerrick of Lansing, KS; two step-daughters, Shelly Rowell of Owensboro, KY and Susan Townsend of Texas; one step-son, Shane Mays of Henderson; one son, Clifford L. Rice of Madisonville and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Hollis Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville, KY. \ Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the service time at the funeral home. \ Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthonys Hospice, 2410 S. Green Street, Henderson, KY 42420. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
