Darris Wayne Thompson Obituary (1937 - 2005)

Mr. Darris Wayne Thompson, 68, of Madisonville, KY died at 2:30 A.M. Thursday, December 15, 2005 at his home. \ Born April 2, 1937 in Elkton, KY he was the son of the late Carl Benjamin Thompson and Catherine Frances Borders Thompson. He was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Thompson on Dec. 5, 1971. \ He was an electrician for Peabody Coal Company for over 18 years and worked for Pleasantview Greenhouse. He had been the caretaker for Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Thornberry. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, a US Army veteran and retired as a Master SGT. from the US Army Reserves. He was a member of the D.E.S. and a Kentucky Colonel. \ He is survived by his wife, Margie Gregory Thompson of Madisonville; one daughter, Tina Louise Broaddus of Irvine, KY; one son, Keith Allen Thompson of Earlington, KY; two sisters, Sandra Wylene Neisz of Dalton, KY and Wanda Faye Hall of Jackson, MI; three brothers, Narris Dean Thompson of Clarksville, TN, Gary Thompson of Eddyville, KY and Larry Thompson of Joplin, MO and four grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Cox and Rev. J.D. Holt officiating. Burial will follow in the Grapevine Cemetery with Military Graveside rites conducted by America Legion Post# 6 and the V.F.W. Post # 5480. Pallbearers will be B.W. Broaddus, Mark Gentry, Billy Tapp, Dudley Phelps, Daryl Bryant and Bobby Glaysbrook. \ Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the service at the funeral home. \ Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the KY Baptist Homes for Children or the St. Jude Childrens Hospital. \
