Dolphus Corbitt Jr. Obituary (1928 - 2011)

\ Mr. Dolphus Corbitt Jr., 83, of Madisonville, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011, West Kentucky Veterans Center. \ He was born February 8, 1928 to the late Dolphus Corbitt Sr. and Ida Richard Corbitt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Jones Corbitt and three sisters. \ He was 26 year veteran of the Army and served during WWII, Indo China, and Vietnam. He was also a member of Grapevine Baptist Church and Sky Lake Baptist Church in Orlando, Fl. He is also a retiree of Southland Cooperation. \ He is survived by one son, Alan W. (Barbara) Corbitt of Madisonville; two grandsons, Jason (Melissa) Corbitt of Madisonville; Dewayne (Alicia) Corbitt of Hopkinsville; and one granddaughter, Frances (Jason) Perdue of Madisonville; three grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. \ Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Jason Corbitt, Dewayne Corbitt, Jim Bauer, Jason Perdue, Jonathan Corbitt, and Antonio Perdue. \ Memorials maybe made to West Kentucky Veterans Center Activity Fund, 926 Veterans Drive, Hanson, KY 42413 \
