Dorothy Macil Dexter Thomas Obituary (1925 - 2014)

\ Dorothy Macil Dexter Thomas, 89 of Madisonville passed away on March 13, 2014 at NHC Healthcare-Madisonville. \ \ She was born on February 11, 1925 in Anton, KY and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lora and Elizabeth Dexter; husband of 66 years, Barron E. Thomas; and one sister, Anna Mae Hook. \ \ She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Madisonville and formally of Liberty Baptist Church. She worked briefly in her younger years at the S. J. Campbell Parachute Factory and the Enro Shirt Factory in Madisonville. \ \ She is survived by two sons, Robert (Linda) Thomas of Hanson, and James (Earline) Thomas of Madisonville; one granddaughter, Stephanie (Chris) Taylor of Madisonville: three grandsons, Bryan Thomas of Lexington, James Thomas, Jr. and James Ross Thomas of Madisonville; two great-grandsons, Drew Bennett and Chris Tucker of Madisonville; and one great-granddaughter, Rossalynn Thomas, also of Madisonville; one sister, Vicie Proctor of Austin, TX; two step grandsons, Scotty and David Bourland of Nashville, TN; one niece and two nephews. \ \ Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. \ \ Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. \ \ Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \
