George W. Long

Mr. George W. Long 91, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 6:15 P.M. Tuesday January 11, 2011 at his residence. \ He was born June 28, 1919 in Mortons Gap, KY to the late James Perry Long and Catherine Sullivan Long. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. \ Mr. Long was a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. and was a WWII Veteran serving in the European Theater. He was a line supervisor before retiring from Kentucky Utilities. \ He is survived by his wife June Long; two sons, Richard Long of Gotha, Fl and Daniel (Heidi) Long of Madisonville; two grandsons, Tyler and Travis Long both of Madisonville and one step granddaughter, Autumn Van Naarden of Madisonville; one sister, Helen Caputo of Evansville, IN and several nieces and nephews. \ Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Steve McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery in Lyon County, KY. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday and 11:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Ray Sprague, Irvin Wright, Bill Groves, Jack Egbert, Paul Brown and Danny Sharber. \ Memorial donations may be made to the Saratoga Cemetery fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
