Gilbert W. Travis Obituary (1921 - 2008)

\ \ Mr. Gilbert W. Travis, 87, of Madisonville, KY, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at 10:20 P.M. at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ He was born April 3, 1921 in Crittenden County, KY, to the late Leonus Travis and Nona Stembridge Travis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Delmar, Ray and Albert Travis and two sisters, Mary Olene Travis and Carrie Herron. \ He was a farmer and a member of First General Baptist Church in Madisonville. \ Mr. Travis is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois Travis of Madisonville; a daughter, Frances Fulkerson of Madisonville; a son, Mark D. Travis of Dawson Springs, KY; a sister, Lera Fendrich of Evansville, IN; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. \ Funeral services will be Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Keith Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and from 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Monday at the funeral home. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to the First General Baptist Church Activities Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \ \ \
