Glen Allen Wiles Obituary (1958 - 2018)

Glen Allen Wiles, age 60, entered into his Heavenly home on Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 at his home. Glen had fought a courageous battle for two and a half years with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease. Throughout this time, his wife, Tammy, was his 24/7 caregiver and gave him the utmost love, care, and dignity that he deserved. Glen was born on March 4, 1958 in Madisonville. He was the son of the late Virginia Pendley Wiles and John Wiles. He attended North Hopkins High School. In 2007, he received his GED diploma, for which he was so proud. At graduation, Glen received the social studies award and was voted the class favorite. Glen was formerly employed by Cullen's Auto Parts, Autoliv Corp, and Jenn-Mar of West Kentucky. In May 2012, Glen became the manager of Foster Farms in Mortons Gap, where he assisted with the planting and harvesting of crops; soybeans, corn, wheat, and hay. He also enjoyed keeping the grasslands bush hogged and continuing the Foster Farms tradition of a beautiful and productive farm. In 2015, Glen and Tammy began an addition to the farm, G and T Cattle, with a herd of purebred Angus and Brangus beef cattle. He was so proud and enjoyed spending time with and taking care of his cattle. Unfortunately, a year later, Glen was diagnosed with the fatal disease. He had become so very fond of his cattle, so they were sold to a family friend, whom he knew would take excellent care of them. One of Glen's greatest joys in his life was spending time with his three grandchildren. They were the light of his life. He was also looking forward to the January birth of his fourth grandchild, of Caleb and Samantha Bruce. Glen was an avid bass fisherman and also a deer and raccoon hunter. He enjoyed working on vehicles and restoring them. For the last several months, Glen has been under the care of Western Kentucky Hospice of Owensboro. Tammy would like to share her love and appreciation to the team who took such excellent, loving, kind and compassionate care of Glen. Kelly, Candace, Heather, Tara, and Emily became part of the family. Thank you seems like such a small way for Tammy to extend her love, gratitude, and respect for the care they gave to Glen. May God continue to bless this team as they help others in need. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Will and Yvonne Foster; and his brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Nadine Wiles. Glen is survived by his wife of 19 years, Tammy Foster Wiles of Mortons Gap; his daughter, Hannah Outlaw of Dawson Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Ned Attebury of Hanson, KY; his step-son, Caleb Bruce United States Air Force and daughter-in-law, Samantha, both of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Vogelweh Air Base; grandsons, Ethan Attebury and Collin Outlaw and granddaughter, Makenna Attebury. Glen is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pamela Kay Foster, RN.; his niece and her husband, Lindsey "Sweet Pea" and Blake Bibbee, all of Mortons Gap; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry Smith; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Melissa Wiles; his step-mother, Bonnie Wiles, all of Madisonville; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery in Mortons Gap. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 11:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Donald Doss, Kerry Fox, Blake Bibbee, Daniel Scott, Ned Attebury, Mike Outlaw, and Lee Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Kembel and Eric Kembel. The family requests in lieu of flowers, monetary contributions be made to the St. Judes Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home
