Ivy Lou Carson

Mrs. Ivy Lou Carson, 86, of Madisonville, KY passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville..
She was born March 8, 1931 in Woodburn, KY to the late John Mack Sears and Samantha Alice Montgomery Sears. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Carson; one son, Steve Carson; five sisters, Mary Draper, Fannie Gregory, Lizzie Deal, Flossie Haws, and Lettie Page; and two brothers, John Mack and Clay Sears.
Mrs. Carson was a member and former Sunday School Teacher at Second Baptist Church in Madisonville. She retired from Trover Clinic after 25 years of service. She was very involved in her church. She loved camping, traveling, and being outdoors. Her grand and great grandkids were her life.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Dale (Suzann) Carson of Amherst, VA, and Dennis (Patty) Carson of Madisonville; daughter-in-law, Charlene Carson of Madisonville; six grandchildren, Eric Carson, Ben Carson, Forrest Carson, Samantha Carver, Hannah Williamson and Emily Elazazy; and ten great grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia, Zachary, Meagan, Maggie, John, Leah, Shiloh, Alana, and Sage.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Fireline officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Saturday and from 12:00 P.M. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Eric Carson, Samir Elazazy, Steve Carver, and Steve Pugh.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donation to the American Brain Tumor Association or the Hopkins County Food Bank. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
