John \J.W.\"" Crockett Sr. Obituary (1934 - 2004)

Mr. John J.W Crockett, 70, of Madisonville, KY died at 11:15 A.M. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Regional Medical Center. \ Born March 26, 1934 in Sidonia, TN he was the son of the late David Franklin Crockett and Frances Melissa McCollum Crockett Montgomery. \ He retired Feb. 15, 1989 from Peabody Coal Company after 18 years as a foreman and 33 years in the mining industry. He was a member of the Madisonville Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, gardener, computer buff and the neighborhood & church handyman. \ He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Odell Summers Crockett of Madisonville, one daughter, Cherie Crockett Ray of Madisonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Peggy Crockett and David M. and Rita Crockett, all of Madisonville; one sister, Pat Thomas of Madisonville; six grandchildren; John W. Crockett III, Daniel Crockett, Justin Crockett, Cassie Crockett, Tommy & Mandy Ray and Mike & Kansas Ray; three great grandchildren, Austin Ray, Abby Ray and Cyrus Solise and one nephew, Clay Thomas. \ Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the Madisonville Church of Christ with Mr. Russell Kline officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Glen Doss, Odis Gatlin, Dewey Yates, Russell Hehemann, George Morgan and Clifton Compton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Byron VanWinkle and Bill Wiles. \ Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and on Saturday at the Church of Christ from 9:00 A.M. until the service. \ \
