John William Poole, Jr. Obituary (1921 - 2009)

Mr. John William Poole, Jr, 87, of Madisonville, KY passed away at 4:00 AM, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at his residence. \ He was born April 24, 1921 in Hopkins County, KY to the late John Will Poole, Sr. and Susie Oates Poole. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Rickard Poole; three brothers, Carl, Barney and Orval Poole and three sisters, Lorene Poole, Corinne Vaughn and Frankie Holmes. \ Mr. Poole was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5480 of Madisonville, a US Army World War II Veteran and worked in maintenance for the U.C. Milk Company. \ He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Flynn Poole of Madisonville; one daughter, Mary Anne (Hayden) Siria of Madisonville; two sons, Leon (Vivian) Poole of Owensboro, KY and Dennis Poole of Panama City, FL; one sister, Betty Smith of Jasper, AL; one brother, Bob Poole of IN; five grandchildren, Bryan (Lori) Poole, Kevin (Pam) Poole, Joanna (James) Decker, Ron (Shawna) Rice and Shari (Dennis) Brasher and ten great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Mr. Hayden Siria officiating. Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. Graveside Honor Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #6 of Madisonville, American Legion Post #2 of Earlington and VFW Post #5480 of Madisonville. \ Friends may call at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the service time. \ Pallbearers will be Bryan Poole, Kevin Poole, Ron Rice, Ryan Babbs and Hayden Siria. \
