Lawrence Barger

Lawrence Barger, 67, of Anton, KY passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at his home after an 11 month battle with cancer.
He was born June 27, 1948 in Hazard, KY to the late Murdock and Mollie Gay Barger. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Boyd Barger July 1972, Paul Barger, July 2007, Burl Barger, July 2011 and his grandson, Ryan Lawrence Johnson, September 2003.
Lawrence was a coal miner for 47 years and was a job he loved. He worked for Peabody, Island Creek, Cardinal, Magic Coal, Dodgehill, Advent, and Sebree Mining. He loved his coal mining brothers. To him they were his family. Until the end, all he wanted to do was go back to work.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Bush Barger; together they had three children, Clint and his wife Debbie Barger; Tara and her husband Andrew Johnson; and Boyd Barger and his fiance' Shannon Coker all of Madisonville; he had two other children, Rhonda Mullins and Joe Barger of Hazard, KY. Together they had five amazing grandchildren who made growing old worth all the aches and pains, Chelsea Barger, Collyn Johnson, Haleigh Johnson, Zoe Barger and Abbi Barger all of Madisonville; two other grandchildren, DeWayne Mullins of Ohio and Jessica Mullins of Hazard; two great grandchildren of Hazard; one sister, Monia Brewer of Hazard who was like a mother to him and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Sean Dame officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday and after 11:00 A.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Clint Barger, Collyn Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Bucky Cash, Kelly Adams, Patrick Gomez and Adam Vincent.
