Mona Nelson

\ Ramona May Powell Nelson, 49, of Manitou, KY passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. \ \ She was born August 6, 1964 in Nashville, TN to Martha Johnson and the late George Powell. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Powell. \ \ Mrs. Nelson was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She worked as a CNA at several local nursing homes. She was a baker for the Country Cupboard. She enjoyed working around the house. \ \ She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Tony Lee Nelson of Manitou, KY; her mother, Martha Powell of Cadiz, KY; two daughters, Melissa Nelson of Madisonville and Melanie Nelson of Manitou; two sisters, Patricia Pendley of Madisonville and Teresa (Jeff) Vickery of Princeton, KY; two brothers, Delbert (Crystal) Powell of Cerulean, KY and William Powell of Cadiz; and one grand daughter, Serenity Agin. \ \ Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 21, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. \ \ Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday and after 9:30 A.M. Monday until the service at the funeral home. \ \ Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist School. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home. \ \
