Morris Dewayne Downey Obituary (1937 - 2007)

Mr. Dewayne Downey, 69, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, April 8, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., at his residence. \ Born September 19, 1937, in Hopkins County, KY, he was the son of the late Alvin Downey Sr. and Opal Johnson Downey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Downey Jr. \ He was a self-employed contractor and a member of Hanson Baptist Church in Hanson, KY. He was an Eagle Scout, and a member of Hopkins County Home Builders and the National Guard. \ Mr. Downey is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Downey of Madisonville; three sons, David Downey of Hanson, Mike Downey and Ken Downey, both of Madisonville; a sister, Phyllis Bryant of Madisonville and five grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 10:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Branson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen, KY. \ Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 8:00 A.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. \ \
