Patricia Louvenia Hyatt Obituary (1923 - 2015)

PATRICIA LOUVENIA MATNEY HYATT, 91, of Madisonville died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Baptist Health Madisonville. She was born in Appalachia to George and Nettie Pearl Matney July 14, 1923, in Exie of Green County, Ky. She was one of the last few survivors of Kentucky's orphan train riders. She and her five siblings arrived in Earlington on April 1929 on an Orphan Train Special. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years William Hyatt, who was a USAF WW II veteran; siblings Josephine Gilmore, Jimmie Boyd, and Francis Taylor. She is survived by sisters Jessie Johnson of Whitesville, Mattie Jenkins of Louisville, and cousins-caretakers Jimmy and Sharon Harris of Madisonville. Patricia attended Madisonville High School and was a member of the Class of 1942. She was a member of First Christian Church since 1937 and attended Christian Assembly. She retired in 1986 from Gibbs Die Cast in Henderson at which time she and Bill returned to Madisonville. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
