Richmond C. Pearce Obituary (1930 - 2014)

\ \ \ Richmond C. 'Poppy' Pearce, 83, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. \ \ He was born July 30, 1930 in Monroe Co. MI to the late Oliver Clyde Shrode and Gladys Ruth Porter and was raised by his grandparents, Joel and Ella Pearce. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Pearce, and one sister, Ruth. \ \ Mr. Pearce was retired from the State of Kentucky where he taught Auto Mechanic's class at the Vocational school for almost 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of E.W. Turner #548 Masonic Lodge in Earlington, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriner at Rizpah Template, past Grand Commander of the York Rite Commandry, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite, and a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He was a world traveler on the web and never left his chair. He was a jack of all trades and a master of most. \ \ He is survived by one daughter, Jo (Derek) Bannister of Madisonville; four sons, Jackie (Debby) Pearce of Nebo, KY, Jimmie (Barbara) Pearce of Northport, AL, John Pearce of Madisonville and Joel (Teresa) Pearce of Murfreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren, Bradley Howard, Katelyn Howard, Chelsey Holdefer, Lindsey Bannister, Chase Bannister, Rick Henley and Tyler Henley and one great grandchild, Ella Kate Patterson. \ \ Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. \ \ Pallbearers will be Rick Caskey, Darrell Stuart, Encil Huddleston, Ronnie Huddleston, Billy Bratcher and Alan Newton. \ \ Online condolences may be made to the family at www.barnettstrother.com. \ \
