Robert \Buddy\"" Metcalfe Obituary (1924 - 2007)

Mr. Robert McCarley Buddy Metcalfe, 83, of Madisonville, KY, died at 1:37 P.M. Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ Born January 16, 1924 in Madisonville, KY he was the son of the late Thomas L. Metcalfe and Nina Elizabeth Myers Metcalfe. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Ann Trahern. \ He was a partner of Pleasant View Greenhouses and a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. He was a graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN and attended Cornell University for one year. He was a WW II Army veteran, having served in the China, Burma, India Theatre. \ He married his wife, Mary Olga Barton Metcalfe on October 18, 1946. He is also survived by; two daughters, Sally Metcalfe-Wittig of McLean, VA and Mary DeFini of Madisonville; three sons, Duncan Metcalfe of Athens, TN, Tommy Metcalfe of Kuttawa, KY and Robert Metcalfe Jr. of Georgetown, KY; one sister; Mrs. Thomas Mary Peyton of Bald Head Island, NC; one brother, William Metcalfe of Madisonville; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Marys Episcopal Church with The Reverend James E. Trimble and The Reverend Tom Mills officiating. \ Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
