Samuel Ray Winstead Obituary (1932 - 2008)

Mr. Samuel Ray Winstead, 75, of Madisonville, KY died at 12:08 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. \ Born July 29, 1932 in Henderson, KY he was the son of the late Arthur Ray Winstead and Irene Furgerson Winstead. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Ida Adduch Winstead on May 26, 2006; one daughter, Linda Winstead; one son, Frankie Winstead and one brother, John Winstead. \ He was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company and a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a member of the U.W.M.A. and the American Legion Post #6. \ He is survived by two daughters; Cheryl Ann Oakley of Anton and Helen Irene Winstead of Madisonville; two sons, Mark Samuel Winstead of Oakland City, IN and Arthur Lee Winstead of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Martha Stanley of Evansville, IN and Mary Elizabeth Judy Bruce of Louisville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 29, 2008 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Parrish officiating. Military graveside services will follow in the Union Cemetery in Nebo, KY. \ Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the services. \ Memorials may take the form of donations to the Alzheimers Assc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
