Samuel W. Holmes, Sr. Obituary (1948 - 2012)

\ Samuel W. Holmes, Sr. 63, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. \ \ He was born November 10, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Vada Traylor Holmes and the late Malery C. Holmes. \ \ Mr. Holmes was the owner of Holmes Fire Sprinklers in the 80s and 90s. He was a member of the American Legion, BPOE #738, Madisonville Country Club, the National Fire Protection Association, American Fire Sprinkler Association and the Yacht Club at Green Turtle Bay. He was also an avid boater and fisherman. \ \ He was survived by one daughter, Rhonda Holmes Taylor of Florence, KY; one son, Samuel W. Holmes, Jr. of Lexington, KY; one sister, Vicki Ernspiger of Evansville, IN; three brothers, Phillip Fuller of Madisonville; Daniel Holmes of Lithia, FL and Michael Holmes of Lithia, FL and three grandchildren, Carson Taylor, Cole Taylor and Bridgette Holmes. \ \ Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ \ Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday and after 12:00 P.M. until the service time on Monday at the funeral home. \ \ Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the National Fire Protection Association. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home. \ \
