Edward "Eddie" Slaton Hughes Obituary (1945 - 2016)

Edward 'Eddie' Slaton Hughes, 71, of Madisonville, KY passed away Saturday , December 3, 2016 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. Mr. Hughes was born June 26, 1945 in Hopkins County, KY to Gertie Lee Wicks Hughes and the late Slaton Vance Hughes. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Melvin 'Finny' Finley Hughes . He worked as a salesman for Fowler Turner Lumber. He was a member at Christ the King Catholic Church. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and was a St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas Jayhawks fan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jameson Hughes; one daughter, Jessica Hughes of Leitchfield, KY; and his mother, Gertie Lee Wicks Hughes of Madisonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:45 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Eastwood, Gary Wells, James Parker, Harvey Oglesby, Gary McCormick, and Kenny Embry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dowis Buchanan, Ellis Traylor, and Jack McCormick. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ the King Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
