Douglas Hawkins Obituary (1918 - 2004)

Mr. Douglas Hawkins, 85, of Madisonville, KY, died at 11:55 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ Born April 24, 1918 in Richland, KY he was the son of the late John Fount Hawkins and Dixie OBryan Hawkins. \ He was a retired co-owner of Hawkins Motor Sales, retiring in 1973. He was also a former partner with his wife in Decor Drapery. He was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran. \ He is survived by his wife of sixty two and a half years, Kathryn Smith Hawkins; three daughters, Janet Coker of Fairfield, TX, Susan Gary and Rebekah Becky Gary, both of Atlanta, GA; one son, Stephen Hawkins of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Ralph Hawkins and Robert Bob Hawkins, both of Madisonville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Mr. Glen Gasser and Mr. Greg Harger officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post # 5480, American Legion Post # 6 and Ft. Campbell Army Base. \ Pallbearers will be Timothy Gary, Kelley Gary, Mark Gary, Brad Coker, Brendon Briggs, Thomas Matthews, Nathan Potter, Brad Chappell and David Steinbrecher. \ Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and on Wednesday after 12:00 Noon until the services. \ \
