Harvey L. Oglesby Obituary (1915 - 2003)

Mr. Harvey L. Oglesby, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died at 11:55 P.M. Saturday, December 13, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ Born August 12, 1915 in White Plains, KY, he was the son of the late Gertie Miller Oglesby and Harve Oglesby. He was also preceded in death by eight sisters, Oma Carroll, Edra Gentry, Flossie Brackett, Dolly Browning, Elva Teague, Beverly Stearsman, Kathryn Teague and Mary Harris and by one brother, John Oglesby. \ Mr. Oglesby retired from Ecorse Machines in Ecorse, Michigan and was a farmer in Hopkins County, Kentucky for many years. He was an active leader in 4-H and FFA Programs in the Hopkins County School System. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church. \ He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor LaFave Oglesby; one daughter Eleanor L. Wells of Hanson, KY; two sons, Harvey A. Oglesby of Chicago, IL and Ronald H. Oglesby of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. \ Funeral services with mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Christ The King Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Calhoun officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. \ Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from Noon until 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. \ Prayer services will be at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Paul Baldwin, Joe Haywood, Harvey A. Oglesby Jr., Lane Dickerson, Bobby Carroll and David Kellerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Dickerson, Billy Carroll and Bob Dame. \
