Joe J.W. Rickard Obituary (1924 - 2005)

\ Mr. Joe J.W. Rickard, 81, of Madisonville, KY died at 6:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at his residence. \ Born March 19, 1924, in Muhlenberg County, KY, he was the son of the late George Rickard and Hazel Fugate Rickard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anita Pearl Rickard, and four brothers, Harvey Earl Rickard, William H. Rickard, Sterling P. Rickard, and George E. Rickard. \ Mr. Rickard was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, was a truck driver for Ligon Trucking and retired from Peabody Star Coal Mines in 1984. He was a member of UMWA District 23 and was an avid fisherman. \ He is survived by his wife, Fairy Littlepage Rickard of Madisonville; two daughters, Linda Short of Nebo, KY, and Teresa Roberson of Shelbyville, KY; two sisters, Ada Hancock and Inez Ligon, both of Madisonville; one brother, Don S. Rickard of Hanson, KY; and three grandsons. \ Funeral services will be Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 11:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Tondra Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2005, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 9:00 A.M. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home. \ \
