John Porter Carroll

r. John Porter Carroll, 81, of Madisonville, KY died at 7:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ Born January 5, 1923 in Hopkins County, KY. He was the son of the late John Washington Carroll and Oma Mae Oglesby Carroll. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harrison Carroll and Liggett Carroll. \ Mr. Carroll was the owner and operator of Carrolls Antique Refinishing Shop. He retired from York in 1984.He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. Mr. Carroll was a W.W.II Veteran of the 4th Marine Division and received the Purple Heart. \ He is survived by his wife, Loyatte Ruth Carroll of Madisonville; two daughters, Alice Noe of Madisonville and Cathy Register of Bakersfield, CA; two brothers, Bobby and Billy, both of White Plains, KY; four grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. \ Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville. \ Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and on Friday after 9:00 A.M. until the service. \ Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. \
