Rev. Malrey Holmes Obituary (1924 - 2005)

Rev. Malrey Holmes, 80, of Madisonville, KY died at 5:30 A.M. Monday, May 9, 2005, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY. \ Born October 25, 1924 in Kirkwood Springs, KY, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Holmes and Rosa Della Evans, also preceded by two sisters, Gredith Neisz and Ethel Greene and five brothers, Wesley Holmes, Edgar Holmes, Winford Holmes, Roy Holmes and Ernest Holmes. \ Rev. Holmes was the former pastor of Souls Harbor Church and pioneered several churches in Indiana and Kentucky. He retired in 1989 from barbering at H & L Barber Shop and was a Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Enterprise. \ Surviving are his wife, Vada Nell Traylor Holmes; one daughter, Vickie Ernspiger of Evansville, In; three sons, Daniel Holmes of Lithia, FL, Samuel Holmes of Graham, KY, and Michael Holmes of Lithia; one stepson, Phillip Fuller of Madisonville; two brothers, Bertis Holmes of Rabbit Ridge, KY and Alvin Holmes of Dalton; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday. \
