Nell Nicholson Thornton Obituary (1911 - 2005)

Mrs. Nell Nicholson Thornton, 93, of Madisonville, KY died at 4:45 A.M. Friday, March 4, 2005, at Princeton Health Care Manor in Princeton, KY. \ Born August 21, 1911 in Paulding, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late William Stith Nicholson and Florence Alexia Parker Nicholson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Evans Wood Thornton on September 17, 1992 and two sons, Charles Evans Thornton on May 3, 2002 and Edward William Thornton on February 14, 2004. \ Mrs. Thornton was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville and the Womens Society of the church. She was a former member of the Town & Country Garden Club and was a member of the Madisonville Country Club. \ Mrs. Thornton was a graduate of Pachuta High School in Pachuta, Mississippi in 1929. She attended Fergusons Business School in Meridian, Mississippi. She retired from Western Kentucky Gas Company. \ Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Marc Wells of Princeton; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Prude McRoy of Meridan and four grandchildren, Clayton Evans Thornton, Evans Wood Thornton Wells, Kent David Wells, II and Mary Alexia Wells. \ Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville with burial to follow. \ There will be no visitation. Barnett-Strother Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral service. \ Memorials may take the from of donations to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. \
