Sadie Coburn

Madisonville, Kentucky

Sadie Frances Coburn, 93, of Madisonville, Kentucky, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Thursday, December 11th, 2025.
She was born May 20th, 1932, at her family's farm in White Plains, Kentucky, to the late Archie and Dixie Slaton Putman. A woman of determination, grace, wit, and service, Sadie lived a full and devoted life centered on faith, family, and community.
Sadie married Captain Charles Edward Coburn Sr., U.S. Army, in a love story that began at a Sadie Hawkins Dance. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Breton Putman, a talented musician and music minister, who influenced Sadie's lifelong love of music.
Throughout her life, Sadie worked at Joy Manufacturing, served as owner-manager of the Nortonville Super-Saver, tended her family farm, worked as a bookkeeper for McCoy and McCoy Environmental Labs, attended Western Kentucky University, and served as a substitute teacher for Hopkins County Schools and Immaculate Conception Catholic School. She was a longtime member of the Madisonville Woman's Club and Hopkins County Homemakers Club and faithfully served First Baptist Church in many roles, including the Lovingkindness Team and Return to Bethlehem living nativity.
Sadie had a true servant's heart and was always looking for ways to serve others, even in her final days. Her greatest joy was her family, and she poured her life into creating memories for them thru travel and time at the family farm and lake.
