Steven R. Ligon Obituary (1948 - 2014)

\ Steven R. Ligon, 65, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the Hartford House in Owensboro, KY. \ \ He was born November 30, 1948 in Hopkins County, KY to Inez Rickard Ligon and the late Ralph C. Ligon. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert V. Ligon in 2007. \ \ Mr. Ligon was owner of Truck-It, a Trucking company, in Franklin, KY. He graduated from South Hopkins in 1966 and from Western Kentucky University in 1971 where he was President of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He worked in the family business of Ligon Specialized Hauler. He was the Vice President of operations for Ranger Transportation, and owned Transportation Legacy in 2010. He was a member of First Baptist Church. His life was the trucking industry. \ \ He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah Ligon of Madisonville; his mother, Inez Rickard Ligon of Madisonville; one son, Steven Sean Ligon of Madisonville; and one sister, Georgia Ligon Fitts of Madisonville. \ \ Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Lander officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. \ \ Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home. \ \ Pallbearers will be John Metcalfe, Roy Gambrell, Scott Rogers, Boyd Maulding, Tom Humphrey, Kenneth Howell, and Steve Talbot. \ \ Memorial funds may be made to the Steven R. Ligon Medical Expense fund, C/o Sean Ligon at 490 Scanfield Dr. Madisonville, KY 42431. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home. \ \
