W.C. \Dub\"" Gatlin Obituary (1918 - 2006)

Mr. W. C. Dub Gatlin, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, December 10, 2006, at 12:01 A.M., at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. \ Born May 5, 1918, in Mortons Gap, KY, he was the son of the late Clinton William Gatlin and Bonnie Vera Stodghill Gatlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Owen Berry Gatlin on December 30, 2002; a daughter, Judith Adkins in 1988 and a sister, Anna Lee Duncan. \ He served in the Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Jason. He was a member of Grapevine Christian Church; a 50 year Woodman of the World member; was an avid bowler for over 40 years and was a former member of the Coon Hunters Club. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Wildcat fan. \ He is survived by two sons, Charles W. Gatlin of Madisonville and Robert D. Gatlin of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Betty Jean Stanley of Madisonville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. \ Funeral services will be Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 1:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Mr. Louis Stanley and Rev. C. W. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery. \ Visitation will be Wednesday, December 13, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home. \ Pallbearers will be Louis Stanley, Jason Ford, Kyle Dickerson, Joey Dickerson, Kenny Nelson and Jeremy Hibbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Ford, Calvin Walker and C. W. Duncan. \
